Pretty Pink Posies

It's Shameless Commerce Tuesday and today I'm featuring a new listing -- this pastel floral oven mitt.

The pretty pink roses play on a lavender (almost periwinkle) background with some whimsical white polka dots.  The fabric is from the Rosy Dots collection by Michael Miller Fabrics.

(You can tell I'm still using my old camera -- and it was cloudy yesterday.  Better photos to come!)

The lining is a pretty pink Kona cotton solid:

You can find this and many more oven mitts in the Oven Mitts section of my Etsy shop, Pasque Flower Creations.

Treasury Thanks

It's a cold and rainy Mother's Day in Nebraska, and we're under a Severe Thunderstorm Watch as well. But this week's treasuries offered a bright and cheery respite.  I want to extend a huge THANK YOU to the curators of Etsy treasuries who featured items from my Etsy shops, Aunt Pheba's Vintage and Pasque Flower Creations, over the past week.

Realgemdesigns of County Durham featured my poppies on teal oven mitts in her pretty treasury, Floral Garden.  This beautiful rose quartz and amethyst necklace from Realgemdesigns made me think of the rose quartz back home in South Dakota, where some gravel roads are pink.

Brenda of ItsSewVintage featured my bright floral oven mitt in her treasury, My Cute Bright Kitchen.  This vintage apron pattern reminds me of my grandmothers, who always wore aprons (except to church).

Margaret of SplendidLittleStars featured my pink roses oven mitt in her treasury, May Flowers.  This silk velvet scrunchie in rose red is one of the beautiful tie dye creations in Margarets shop.  Her scrunchies are to dye for!

Maryann Dunbar of OldMaterialGirl featured my poppies on teal oven mitts in her treasury, Happy Epsteam Mother's Day.  Love this vintage camera  (circa 1915) from Maryann's shop!

Natashalh of StalkingTheWildSnark featured my glamping oven mitt in her whimsical treasury, Just for Fun.  This cute batik seahorse soft toy fits that category to a T.  (I wonder if this is fabric leftover from Angel's shirt-making adventure?)

Duni of PeriDotByDuni featured my black and tan chevron mitt in her treasury, n a t u r a l.  Duni's shop features soft pastels and shabby chic, but when she ventures outside her comfort zone into darks, brights, and neutrals, her artist's eye is evident across that broad spectrum.  I did find one neutral item in Duni's shop, however -- this beautiful rose pendant in cream.

Eugenia Zoloto of ArtHeartsShop  (Ukraine) featured my deer in birch trees baby bib in her treasury, Under 10 -- a wonderful collection of inexpensive handmade gifts.  This beautifully intricate paper cut collage is entitled Freedom.

Wanda of SaffronFields featured my BBQ oven mitt in her Father's Day-themed Baby Boomer Team treasury, Rock n Roll Dad,  If dad is a history buff, he may be intrigued by this WWII Italian pick axe with bayonet mount.

Dixie Sisters featured my aqua chevron oven mitt in the treasury, ZigZag.  If you love chevrons, this one's for you!   With Mother's Day behind us, Father's Day and the 4th of July are just around the corner!  This colorful red, white and blue picnic caddie would be perfect for a family picnic.

Francesca e Frederica of FouLab (Florence, Italy) opened their shop March 2014, so please stop by and give this Etsy newbie shop some love.   My yellow chevron oven mitt was featured in the treasury, Mom is Mom.  FouLab has a unique assortment of accent pillows.  I love this one with shades of salmon.   Wouldn't this be a colorful dorm accessory for a grad heading off to college?  Or perhaps it would soften a lawn chair on the deck.

Sandy from SanmarnaStyle, a Baby Boomer teammate, featured my gray chevron oven mitt in her treasury entitled, Team Treasury.  Sandy is a sewist who also loves to create with her embroidery machine.  This golf towel would be a fun Father's Day gift for a dad who golfs.

The greens are would be a bit soggy today, I'm afraid!  Here's hoping for some warm, sunny days.

Happy Mother's Day to all the moms out there. And for those who have lost a mother, lost a child, or yearn to have a child -- my prayers are with you.  Hugs.

Pastels and Florals

It's Shameless Commerce Tuesday, and today I decided to feature one of my new listings:

Pastels and florals are on trend.  And although my shop tends toward brights, this beautiful print, Meadow Poppy, designed by Beth Studley for Makower UK, combines pastels and florals with a contemporary vibe.
I chose a coordinating pastel print, Meadow Dandelion, for the lining, binding and hanging loop.

Although I love the stylized dandelions in this print, the dandelions in my yard?  Not so much.  I still have some serious dandelion digging to do, if I'm going to get them under control.  And yet -- part of me sees them as pretty yellow flowers.

A Little Container Gardening

It was a beautiful Spring weekend, and although I had several indoor tasks demanding my attention, I took some time off to take a hike around Holmes Lake, and to go to the Old Cheney Road Farmers' Market.  At the market, I purchased some started tomato plants -- mostly cherry tomatoes, which we love as a snack or to add a little color to summer salads.

We haven't tilled the "real" garden patch yet -- no backyard farming for a week or two.  But my container gardens are planted and ready to grow.

And I also splurged on a pretty pink geranium for the front step.

Did you get a chance to play outside this weekend?

Treasury Thanks

Each week I like to extend a big THANK YOU to the curators of Etsy treasuries who featured items from my Etsy shops, Pasque Flower Creations and Aunt Pheba's Vintage, in their treasuries.

With Mother's Day only a week away (Yikes!!), it is no surprise that many of the treasuries were Mother's Day-themed, or evocative of a longing for Spring.  So grab your favorite beverage and take a leisurely virtual stroll through  these curators' shops!

Wanda of SaffronFields featured my bright city lights oven mitts in her treasury, Keep It in the Kitchen.  I love this all-season prairie linen wreath from Wanda's shop.

Kimie Sagisaka of tomoandedie featured my blue and yellow baby bib with tiny cars in her treasury, Spring Sky.  Kimie upcycles Japanese kimono fabric to make some wonderful accessories.  This indigo barrette would be perfect to keep your hair under control on a hot, humid day.  Love the asymmetrical design.

Carla from CarlasCraft featured my green chevron oven mitt in her Spring-y green treasury, And I Mean Green!  Carla lives in San Diego, but she has a whole section of her shop for Huskers fans!!  Once a Husker, always a Husker!  Of course, I couldn’t resist this Huskers wreath.  Go Big Red!

Abigail Jayne of AbigailJayneArt also featured my green chevron oven mitts in her treasury, Blue Skies and Green Trees.. .   I'm happy to say that we DO have blue skies and green trees today in Lincoln -- a gorgeous day for the runners in the annual Lincoln Marathon.

I love this hoop art piece from AbigailJayneArt, entitled Weight of the World.

Lana Moes of LanasArt featured my Gemini hobo bag in shades of pink and orchid in her treasury, Soft Pinks.   Lana is an extremely talented visual artist.  I love this watercolor entitled Pink Lipstick

Dominga of manufattofattoamano  from Italy, featured my poppies on teal oven mitts in her treasury, Colors of the World.  After Mother's Day come June weddings.  This lovely wedding favour bag is one of the beautiful handmade items you will find in Dominga's shop.

Francesca Chessa of FCreative, also from Italy, featured my poppies on teal oven mitts in her treasury, ILOVEYOUMOM.  Francesca does beautiful hand paintings on glassware.  This square bowl with handpainted pink flowers would be a wonderful gift form mom or grandma.

And there you have it -- another week of beautiful treasuries.  Thanks, again, to all the curators who included items from my Etsy shops.

It's a beautiful Spring day!  I hope to visit Old Cheney Farmer's Market, catch up on Etsy sewing. and then work on a special project -- a memorial quilt for my friend and coworker whose husband John died much too young almost a year ago.  I will be using fabric from some of his favorite shirts, and adding special blocks to commemorate good times they shared.
