Shamelessly Exhausted

It's Shameless Commerce Tuesday, and I should be promoting, promoting, promoting --- but I don't have any new listings -- just lists of ideas for new listings and lots of fabric and scraps.

The road to Etsy oblivion is paved with good intentions.

I could give you a behind-the-scenes look at 4 works-in-progress (oven mitts heading to London and three patriotic buntings staying here in the USA). I'm grateful for those sales, but they are still in the cutting stage.

SO here's the honest truth ---

I'M TIRED.

I mean REALLY tired.

As in -- I haven't been this tired since I was last pregnant and anemic ... 27 years ago.
As in -- teetering on the brink of EXHAUSTION tired.

I'm too tired to promote anything right now.
I'm too tired to make anything more tonight / this morning.

I've gone from the holiday rush to a crazy stressful tax season + a full-time job + Etsy + free-lance legal research. Yup -- you counted right -- FOUR jobs during tax season, but only THREE now.
Some days I feel like a chubby old gray gerbil running on a wheel that just keeps spinning faster and faster.

Even though tax season is over for this year, I'm still feeling TAXED on an emotional and physical level.

I'm tired physically because I'm sleep-deprived and don't get enough exercise--and I work all day in a chilly, windowless basement.

I'm tired emotionally because all work and no play take a toll.  (And, I'm sad to say, even sewing -- once my creative escape -- has become work.)

End of whine.

This grumpy old lady is signing off and heading to bed.
But the alarm is set for 4:30 am so I can sew for 2.5 hours before heading off to my day job.

  2. Oh LeAnn, that sounds stressful - no wonder your energy is depleted. I was in this same situation in April last year and I decided to put my Etsy shop on "vacation" because I couldn't handle the ton of work otherwise. Please take care of yourself ((hugs))

  8. Oh no, you're on the brink of total burnout! I hope that you're able to take some time for yourself this weekend. I know what you mean about a creative outlet turning into work, though. Hopefully you can find a way to make sewing exciting again so at least that element can feel like a hobby.
