St. Patrick's Day Is Near

It's Shameless Commerce Tuesday, and today I'm featuring two newly-listed buntings to deck your halls this St. Patrick's Day.

The chevron and dots version uses up some of my scraps from making green and white chevron oven mitts.

I have no plans to celebrate St. Patrick's Day this year, but in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where I spent much of my life, there is an annual St. Patrick's Day Parade. Buttons are sold for $3.00 each to support Special Olympics, and the green beer flows freely (well, not exactly FREE-ly, but a lot of it is consumed).

The paraders might not be wearing short sleeves this year!  That's Phillips Avenue -- a thriving downtown area full of quaint shops and upscale offices -- and it leads to Falls Park -- home of the city's namesake attraction, Sioux Falls.

Score!

Each year, one of our local quilt shops, the Cosmic Cow, hosts a Quilters' Rummage Sale on the first Sunday in March. (The Quilted Kitty, where I worked part-time for a very short time last Fall, has closed its brick and mortar store, but is open online.)

I've never been able to attend the annual event, because in prior years I worked every Sunday during tax season.  This year, however, I only work every other Sunday (except during "peak"), and I had last Sunday off!

The event is also a fundraiser for The Center for People in Need, a local charity which I am happy to support.  Attendees were asked to donate $1.00 or a canned food item, and many vendors agreed to donate all or a percentage of their proceeds to TCPN.

I couldn't resist the $1.25 fat quarters shown above. My next score -- two decorator fabric samples at 50 cents each! This interesting harlequin swatch is 6" x 42" and it is 100% silk.  I can see this remnant being transformed into a few wonderful zipper pouches or perhaps a Fall clutch or two.

The second decorator swatch is a dark blue rayon and cotton blend.  I actually like the reverse side better than the outer damask. The design is more subtle.  This will also become a zipper pouch, I think.

Of course, I couldn't resist some pretty purple fabric for jewelry pouches, makeup bags, and perhaps a walker bag.

I found a spool of my favorite thread in purple at 60% off, some nice light small-scale florals for doll quilts at $1.00 per yard! (I'll be making doll quilts with some of Jerry's scrappy squares.)   And even though I am SO tired of snow and cold, this snowflake print will become Santa Sacks for next year's Lincoln Quilters Guild project -- and maybe a holiday gift pouch or two.

My biggest score was this cloud fabric -- enough for a large quilt back and several twined rug strips.  It is high quality cotton at under $3.00 per yard.

Fabric AND the Oscars -- and only 1.5" of snow!  It was a pretty good Sunday.

Treasury Thanks

It was a wonderful week for treasuries, as curators gave us a glimpse of Spring in the midst of what seems to be an unrelentingly harsh Winter.  I want to extend a huge

THANK YOU

to the Etsians who featured items from my Etsy shops, Pasque Flower Creations and Aunt Pheba's Vintage, over the past week.  Please share the love by visiting their shops.

Jane Downing of janedowning featured my red retro-inspired bow clutch in her treasury, Mother's Favorites . . .  Jane designs and makes beautiful jewelry, but she is also an avid dog lover, so there is a section in her shop devoted to dog-friendly items.  I chose to feature this beautiful beige and gray marbled Jasper necklace.

Stephen and Denise Tallman of WhimsicalMystical featured my green chevron oven mitt in their treasury, Luck Be A Lady.   This St. Patrick's Day bracelet would be a fun accessory to sport as you head out for green beer.  And 10% of all WhimsicalMystical shop proceeds are donated to Pug Rescue and other animal rescue charities.

Hamutal Benjo of hamutalbenjoceramics featured a vintage geometric scarf in orange and gray from my Aunt Pheba's Vintage shop in a Spring Passions treasury.  I love this natural clay napkin holder -- perfect for cloth napkins.

Edi Royer of memoriesforlifesb featured my purple chevron oven mitt in her pretty treasury, Orchid & Amethyst.  I chose to feature this personalized wine bottle stopper -- one of the many beautiful engraved products in Edi's shop.

Linda Pruitt of PruittCreations featured my red chevron oven mitt in her colorful treasury, Olde Gal Colors.  As the grandmother of 6 grandsons (and 3 granddaughters), I couldn't help featuring this boy's zippered pencil pouch.

Judy of MisterPenQuin featured my pink roses oven mitt in her Spring-themed treasury, A Change of Seasons Would Be Welcome.  She got that right!!  As I am typing this, the outdoor thermometer reads
-5 F.  I don't even want to think about the sub-zero wind chill number.  Brrr-rr-rrr!  But hope springs eternal.  I ordered garden seeds this week, confident that Spring will come --- eventually.  This pretty peach dreams lined journal would be perfect for jotting down thoughts of Spring.

Bill Guest of PaganCellarJewelry featured my green and white chevron oven mitt in his treasury, Green With Envy Gifts Under $20!    And speaking of bargains, this vintage Victorian gold, emerald, and pearl brooch is quite a find at $11.95!

Chickie of ChickieVintageLove featured my small mermaid Royal Copenhagen plate in her treasury, Moonlit Muse.    You'll find literally hundreds of vintage items in Chickie's shop, including 169 listings for vintage buttons.  Sadly, Chickie has the new shop format (which I REALLY dislike -- you can read my rant on my Pasque Flower Facebook page.  Solidarity, Etsians!!).  But you CAN find the Buttons category if you use the inconspicuous drop-down menu at the upper left hand corner of the shop page.  But I digress.... I love these vintage white rectangle buttons -- just had to buy me some last week!

Lise and Lena of SavvyCoffer featured my green and white organic cotton napkins in their treasury, Goodies for the Grown-Up Easter Basket.  Lise's dad and my dad were first cousins, and Lena is Lise's "almost daughter-in-law."  SavvyCoffer features many of Lena's handmade jewelry items and an assortment of unique gift tags.  Lise also has a vintage shop, Dusty Digger Lise, which is chock full of vintage paper items -- from books, to advertisements, maps and prints.  Lise has also published a book on Asperger's Syndrome, and she is a budding screen writer. Dusty Digger Lise is a wonderful place to browse on a snowy day!! But again, I digress . . ..  I've chosen to feature these gorgeous Faceted Freshness blue and green teardrop earrings, designed by Lena:

Gonulk featured my pink floral oven mitt in a treasury entitled March (04).  They say a picture is worth a thousand words, but this stunning art photo speaks volumes.

If this photo was your prompt, what story would you write?

Stay warm!

Most Adorable Baby Girl Dress

I missed Shameless Commerce Tuesday this week (it was a TAX-ing Tuesday) -- so I'll call this post Friendly Friday.  My Etsy friend, Jen Hagedorn of Tie Dye Diva Sewing Patterns has designed the MOST ADORABLE baby girl's party dress pattern (Size 0-24 mos)  -- perfect for Easter, or family get-togethers on Mother's Day or a family wedding.   The PDF is only $7.95 (with a discount for Tie Dye Diva Facebook fans).

I have used several of Jen's patterns.  They are always true to size and include fool-proof instructions.  Best of all, she allows Etsy sellers to sell items made using her patterns on the condition that you acknowledge the pattern source.

I know some of my readers are grandmas (or soon-to-be great-grandmas) of baby girls, so I just had to share this wonderful little dress pattern.  Don't you love those cute little puffed sleeves?

Click on the link on the upper right corner of my blog to see this and other wonderful patterns from Jen's shop. AND, you can follow her on Facebook for a daily dose of cuteness (and a discount on this pattern).

Treasury Thanks

I'd like to take this opportunity to extend a big

THANK YOU

to the curators of Etsy treasuries who featured items from my Etsy shops, Pasque Flower Creations and Aunt Pheba's Vintage, in treasuries during the past week.

This week's treasuries were eclectic and artsy, with hints of Spring.

Natashalh of StalkingTheWildSnark featured my green chevron oven mitt in her green-themed treasury, Shades of Green.  Natasha's Irish shamrock garland would be a wonderful St.Patrick's decoration -- festive and easy to store.

Olena Kriuchkova of HandyHappyTeddy featured my baby boy preppie bib in her baby boy treasury titled simply #2.   Olena's fatsy petsy stuffed toy would be a perfect baby shower gift.

Paige of OhNostalgiaDesigns featured my poppies on teal oven mitts in her treasury, Love Colors. Paige's shop is on vacation as she prepares to launch her interior design business.

Linda and Jigger from Retroburgh featured my poppies on teal oven mitts in their aqua and orange treasury, Based on Scubamouse.  I'll have to admit, I'd not heard of Scubamouse, but I love this artfully curated treasury.  And I REALLY loved browsing through Retroburgh -- a treasure trove of Danish modern and mid-century modern vintage accent pieces.  Perhaps that's because I'm mid-century vintage myself.   It was so difficult to pick just one feature, but I finally decided on this mid-century lamp in turquoise.  The same lamp is available in bright orange BTW.
