Wordless Wednesday - Oh, Christmas Trees!

Put A Bow On It

The holidays are upon us, so for today's Shameless Commerce Tuesday post, I decided to feature a festive retro-inspired bow clutch, perfect for holiday parties.

This 1930s style clutch bag features front pleats and a big bow accent. The bag measures 11 inches (28 cm) wide and 8 inches (20 cm) high. The fold over flap is secured with a magnetic snap closure. The handbag is made of red linen, fully lined with high quality 100% cotton fabric.

Colors available: Red, Yellow, Coral, Emerald Green, Meadow Green, Navy Blue, Royal Blue, Lavender, Black and Natural (Taupe). (See last listing photo.)

This clutch was made using a Charlie’s Aunt sewing pattern, “High Tea” Clutch, designed by Emma Brennan. I am authorized to sell only 10 bags per year using this pattern, so this is truly a limited edition item!

Now through December 2, 2013, take 25% off any purchase over $10.00 by using Coupon Code CYBER25 at checkout.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Treasury Thanks

Each week I like to give a big THANK YOU to the curators of Etsy treasuries who featured items from my Etsy shops, Pasque Flower Creations and Aunt Pheba's Vintage, over the past week.

Christmas Eve is only 30 days away -- and Thanksgiving is next Thursday.  Yikes!! Holiday themes were evident in this week's treasuries. We had a dusting of snow here, and "It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas," as the old song goes.

Margaret of Splendid Little Stars featured my fall oven mitts in her treasury, Family Means the World to Me. If there are any new babies in your family circle, these adorable tie dye infant socks would be a fun gift.

Kimie Sagisaka of tomoandedie featured my green chevron oven mitts in her green-themed treasury, Special Gift.  Kimie's shop has Japanese kimono fabric, and beautiful accessories made from those fabrics.  I just love this beautiful silk piece:

Inbar Alezraki featured my grunge pillow cover in her treasury, Grunge.  Teens and young adults can be a challenge on the gift list, and Inbar's treasury offers some great suggestions.   But let me assure you, there's nothing grungy in Inbar's shop -- only exquisitely crafted handmade jewelry, like this gorgeous diamond engagement ring.

Mary Nedry of countryprim featured my red and green chevron oven mitt in her treasury, Tis the Season.  This cheery snowman wreath could brighten a front door this holiday season.

LL Pyles of DustyDiggerLise (my cousin-- our dads were first cousins) gave me a double feature in her delightful treasury, Pinkie Winks.  The Bavarian china featured from Aunt Pheba's Vintage that was featured in her treasury belonged to the REAL Aunt Pheba (my paternal grandmother).  Lise also included the pink chevron oven mitt from my Pasque Flower Creations shop.  Thank you and thank you!

Lise’s shop specializes in vintage printed items, but she also has some wonderful upcycled gift tags, and handmade jewelry.  It’s a GREAT place to browse – 919 items at last count!!  Yowza!  With so many items, it was hard to choose just two features.

I love this 1955 Art Deco Print from a Sheraton Ad.  My Chicago readers will appreciate this, I'm sure!

And these pink needlecraft gift tags - upcycled vintage - would make lovely gift tags for the holidays or year-round.

Elan of AntheraDesign featured my green chevron oven mitt in the treasury, Give Comfort, Get Joy :-).   These organic acorn earrings are such fun!  Some days (especially this time of year), I feel a little nuts.

Joolz  of joolzbyme – New South Wales featured my snowflakes on red holiday oven mitt in her treasury, Here Comes Christmas!  This pretty pink and green rose necklace would be a lovely holiday gift.

Pam Cake from EastIdahoCompany featured the vintage butter churn from Aunt Pheba's Vintage in her treasury, Mommy, I Am Bored.  Pam's family must have had the same response to that complaint as mine did -- do chores!  (So I learned at a young age to amuse myself with fabric scraps and books, so I was rarely bored!)

I've been seriously considering getting a postage scale, and this vintage postage scale might be less intimidating to this techologically-challenged granny!

And there you have it -- another great week of treasury highlights!  Thanks, again, to all the curators.
To my readers in the States, Happy Thanksgiving!

It's Shameless Commerce Tuesday, and today I'm sharing some of the newly-listed items in my vintage Etsy shop, Aunt Pheba's Vintage.  Now through December 2, 2013, take 25% off any order over $10.00.  Use Coupon Code CYBER25 at checkout.

Here's a beautiful Southwestern cotton throw, made in the USA by Goodwin Weavers.  Perfect for cuddling on a cold Winter night, or a colorful home accent year round.

Here are some pretty shabby chic embroidered pillow cases  with lace trim dating from the 1950s -- perfect for visiting holiday guests.  Kept in a cedar chest and rarely used.

Here's a timeless, sophisticated designer scarf by Schiaparelli:

And here is one of MANY vintage handkerchiefs listed over the past weekend. Love the dainty embroidery.

Thank you for visiting!

Treasury Thanks

Each week I like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the curators of Etsy treasuries who featured items from my Etsy shops, Pasque Flower Creations and Aunt Pheba's Vintage, over the past week.  The holiday season is upon us, and this week's treasuries trended around holiday themes.

Trina Prenzi of TrinasClayCreations featured my brown chevron oven mitt in her treasury, A Handmade Christmas.  This cute little polymer clay holiday elf  will add a little cheer to your holidays.

Bonnie Sernesky of BonniesSewCrazy featured my snowman oven mitt in her treasury, Merry Christmas. This lunch bag and key fob combo from Bonnie's shop would make a perfect Secret Santa gift.

Dixie Sisters featured my fall leaves oven mitts in their treasury, Down . .. Down . . . Down.   These Thanksgiving napkin rings would be a lovely decorative addition for your Thanksgiving table.

Eszter of grabacoffee created a beautiful front page worthy treasury---truly a work of art.  I was honored to have my gray and orange Lotta J bib featured in her treasury, Sun from the Clouds.  This hand embroidered felt pendant is one of the wonderful handmade items you can find in Eszter's shop.

Kimie Sagisaka of tomoandedie featured my aqua chevron oven mitt in her pretty treasury, First Snow. Kimie turns vintage kimonos into beautiful accessories and fabric creations.  These kimono kanzashi style bobby pins  remind me of tiny poinsettias.

Duni Buesken of PeriDotByDuni featured my gray industrial pillow cover in her treasury, Grey Beauties in November.   These pretty earrings in Duni's dainty rose gift set would be a perfect stocking stuffer for a special girl on your holiday list.

Kathy from tapestry316 featured my TV commercial autumn leaves oven mitts and my Andrew Wyeth plate (Aunt Pheba's Vintage) in her treasury,  Getting All Ready for Thanksgiving.   Kathy's mustang quarterhorse hiding her baby is a reminder to be thankful for our pets and animal friends this Thanksgiving.

Edi Royer of memoriesforlifesb featured my red and green chevron oven mitt in her treasury, Hostess Gift Guide.   I love these cute wooden wine glass charms from Edi's shop -- party perfect.

Patty Ferguson of CoffeeKidsNDolls featured my green chevron oven mitt in her treasury, Think Green!
What little girl wouldn't LOVE this colorful little crocheted purse with matching bracelet and scrunchie? So CUTE!

I am thankful for the features -- and for being part of such and inspiring and creative community.  Wishing you all a Happy Thanksgiving!

Treasury Thanks

I would like to extend a big THANK YOU to the curators of Etsy treasuries who featured items from my shops, Pasque Flower Creations and Aunt Pheba's Vintage, over the past week.  It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas in this week's treasuries!  Check the Christmas Countdown widget at the bottom of the blog to see how many days, hours and minutes until Christmas.  Yikes!

Veronica Ogden of PaddyWhackKnickKnack  featured my brown chevron oven mitt in her Christmas wish list treasury, This List Is for Me.   I LOVE that shop name -- but now I have that children's song running through my head -- "with a knick knack paddy whack give a dog a bone, this old man came rolling home"!

This beautiful vintage red seashell bowl would be a truly unique gift, or a beautiful Thanksgiving or holiday home accent piece.

Fabrics & Colors, an Etsy buyer, featured my green chevron oven mitt in her treasury, Holiday Gifts.  Thank you!!

Susan Smith of hinterlandquilts featured my patriotic bunting in her treasury, Thanks for Our Veterans.  This colorful baby blanket with ultra-soft red minky backing is just one of the cozy handmade quilts in Susan's shop:

Svitlana of ChaChaChaaaa   (Ukraine) featured my red and white snowflake holiday oven mitt in her treasury, Red and White.  I love Svitlana's unique handmade fabric buttons -- and they are now 50% off!  Such a deal!

Holly from IntentionalGlass featured my aqua chevron oven mitt in her beautiful treasury, Frozen.  This adorable miniature glass snowman from Holly's shop is just one of her many wonderful glass creations:

Jean Schroeder featured my leaves on periwinkle oven mitts in her treasury, Gifts to Love to Give.  These bright sunny Fall snack rugs would be perfect for catching the grandlittles' cookie crumbs over the Thanksgiving holidays -- or use as a mug rug for a cup of hot cocoa (with marshmallows, please).

KarynRD of RaeKaryCaps  featured my aqua chevron oven mitt in her treasury, Fantasy Baking.  These beautiful bottlecap magnets would make a lovely hostess gift this Thanksgiving, or a cute little gift for a Canadian friend.

Sarah Leonard of ACatlikeCuriosity featured my prairie sunbonnet in her treasury, Timeless Notions. I think Sarah's soar pendant necklace has timeless charm.

Reyes of ReyesRobledo featured my leaves on teal fabric-covered journal in her budget-friendly and eco-friendly treasury, Less Than 20 Green Gifts.  These beautiful blue dainty Josephine Bonaparte Czech glass earrings would be a beautiful gift.

Samantha Zugec of LifeInCroatia  (gorgeous photography!) featured my aqua chevron oven mitt in her beautiful treasury, Pale Blue in the Kitchen.  I think you'll agree Samantha's flower photography is just simply stunning.

Edi Royer of memoriesforlifesb featured my red and green chevron oven mitt in her holiday gift guide treasury, Stocking Stuffers Gift Guide - $20 and Under.  These wooden feather earrings are a budget-friendly gift.  I bought a pair for my daughter, and she LOVES them!

Deb Baroff of storybeader featured my prairie sunbonnet in her treasury, Gift Ideas for Kids.  Deb's maroon covered art journal would be a perfect gift for a special teen or tween on your holiday list.

Thanks, again, to all the curators for this week's features.

This is my 498th blog post.  When I hit 500, I will be taking a semi-sabbatical from blogging and the BBA Team through the holiday rush and possibly extending into tax season.

The creative well has run dry, and with so many competing demands for my time, something has to give.  I admire all my teammates who seem to be able to juggle all the competing demands.  My hat is off to you.  I will continue my weekly Treasury Thanks posts, and perhaps a few other posts.  And I will pop in to visit some of my favorite blogs occasionally -- but not compulsively.

Special thanks to my cyber-friends from the BBA Team for their support and encouragement over the past several months.  I will miss you.

Shop Sample

Here is a photo of a quilt top I recently made as a shop sample for The Quilted Kitty.  It is made of wonderful, high quality cotton flannel from the Black Velvet collection by Maywood Studios.   I chose the simple Prairie Windows pattern by Anne Wiens of Sweetgrass Designs to showcase the large-scale floral print.

One of the up sides of our chilly winters is the chance to curl up under a quilt with a good book.

A Salute to Veterans

Each November 11, the United States observes a federal holiday to honor the service of veterans.   The date is significant, because on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, the Armistice that ended World War I was signed.  Sadly, World War I was not "the war to end all wars," and each generation has had its own war, creating new waves of veterans.

So on this Shameless Commerce Tuesday, I have decided to showcase items that could help welcome home a returning veteran – or bring some cheer to a veteran of World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam Conflict, Desert Storm, or the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

This patriotic bunting would add a festive touch to a welcome home celebration for a returning veteran.

Perhaps there’ll be a barbecue, with hamburgers, homemade potato salad, and apple pie.  This red, white and blue chevron oven mitt would be perfect for such an occasion (or a Patriots tailgate party).

Perhaps there is a new baby in the family that a returning veteran will meet for the first time.  Wouldn’t baby be cute in this stars and stripes bib?

My local quilt guild supports Quilts of Valor by creating red, white and blue quilts to give to wounded warriors and to families of those who died in combat. Over 91,500 quilts have been donated through QOV nationwide.

Too often, I think, Veteran’s Day has become just another 3-day weekend -- a reason to promote a sale at a big box store or car dealership, or a "bonus" day to rake leaves. But I hope that this Veteran’s Day we can take a minute to pause and give thanks to a veteran --and to pray that one day wars will cease.

Treasury Thanks

I'd like to extend a big THANK YOU to the curators of Etsy treasuries who featured items from my Etsy shop, Pasque Flower Creations, over the past week.

Linda Pruitt of Pruitt Creations featured my red and green chevron oven mitt in her treasury, Festive Season Ahead.  (BTW, if you haven't checked out the widget at the bottom of my blog, take a look -- it will tell you how many days until Christmas.)

These cute corrugated heart ornaments would be perfect for the festive holiday season!

Bonnie Sernesky of Bonnie's Sew Crazy featured my Amy Butler botanical pillow cover in her treasury, Window Shopping.  This cute fleece beanie in blue and lavender would be warm and cozy on a cold and blustery day!

Thanks, again, Linda and Bonnie!

Did you all remember to "Fall Back" to standard time?  I appreciated that extra hour of sewing time!
