A Little Container Gardening

It was a beautiful Spring weekend, and although I had several indoor tasks demanding my attention, I took some time off to take a hike around Holmes Lake, and to go to the Old Cheney Road Farmers' Market.  At the market, I purchased some started tomato plants -- mostly cherry tomatoes, which we love as a snack or to add a little color to summer salads.

We haven't tilled the "real" garden patch yet -- no backyard farming for a week or two.  But my container gardens are planted and ready to grow.

And I also splurged on a pretty pink geranium for the front step.

Did you get a chance to play outside this weekend?

  1. We made a visit to our local farmer's market too -- got some wonderful veggies to use in shish-kabobs! I checked out their tomato plants, but they didn't look very good -- I've got to get going if I'm going to plant any!

    1. The growing season is shorter than we think. Love farmer's markets.

  2. We have a container garden, too (since we have no yard). I wish we had tomatoes, though. Nothing beats fresh tomatoes!

    1. We had a bumper crop of cherry tomatoes last year -- and lettuce -- so that was a happy combination. Also LOTS of raspberries, but everything else literally bit the dust due to drought and watering restrictions. Hoping for a better "crop" this year.

  3. Fab weekend here in RI, got some rototilling accomplished along with some planting our garden is taking shape. We're not out of the freeze zone until Memorial Day so waiting on those tender plants but most of the cold crops are in. Feeling accomplished~!
