Deck the Walker

It's Shameless Commerce Tuesday, and today I decided to share a recent custom order.  My customer wanted a holiday-themed walker bag for her elderly mother who is in assisted living.  She chose a traditional looking red and green Christmas fabric with a bit of a metallic sparkle.  The bag is lined with hunter green broadcloth and features 5 outer pockets and a large inner pocket.  I hope she gets lots of Christmas cards and treats to fill all those pockets.

I'd previously made a seashell-themed walker bag and a teapot-themed walker bag for her mom.  She got lots of positive attention from residents and staff who admired her unique bags.

Elderly relatives are often hard to buy for.  They sometimes don't have much space, and activities are limited.  A walker bag is a thoughtful and practical gift.

Have you started your Christmas shopping yet?

  3. These are such a great item. I think of you every time I see someone using a walker. And you're right about them making great gifts!

  4. That is such a great idea and the fabrics are so lovely! The population in this town is at least 70% over 60s with many using the walking frame. Some have little baskets attached ;-)

  5. This is great, LeAnn. When I had my knee replacement and had to use a walker my walker bag was not nearly as pretty. For someone who has to use a walker all the time this is wonderful.

    Hugs,

  7. What a great idea. After I had knee surgery I had to use a walker for awhile and that little pouch would have been very handy. I'm sure it will be an appreciated gift. Great fabric too!

  9. Your walker bag turned out great! My late father was in an assisted living facility during his last year or so of life, and it was interesting to see that it was mainly the women who were practical-minded and used these bags. I love all of the pockets! Pretty fabric, too.
