Heart Melt

This adorable photo of Baby Giana arrived in today's mail.

I have been sewing Project Linus quilts and cuddle quilts for the Lincoln Quilter's Guild for several years.  They are donated anonymously to kids who are hospitalized, and I've always trusted that each little quilt found a good home.  But a couple of years ago, at the Project Linus collection point, we were asked to pin our names to the back of the quilt.

I remember that quilt.  It had four center blocks with clusters of roses on white, with pink and pale blue sashing, and pink, blue and red accent fabrics---with the polka dot outer border.

I assumed that the name tag was just for record keeping purposes because Project Linus is a separate 501(c)(3) organization  -- but apparently the tag stayed on this little quilt, because here is the sweetest thank you note I received today (along with 3 photos) from little Giana's mommy:

Thank you so much for the beautiful baby blanket!! It is so lovely and we are so thankful that you made it and we were the lucky ones that got it!  To be honest I haven't really snuggled the baby in it very much because it's so pretty.  I don't want her to spit up on it and have it be stained!

I took her picture on and in it so you could see who received such a wonderful gift.  My daughter Giana was born 5/16/13  and we had to go back to the hospital because she lost too much weight.  The blanket you made gave us both a lot of comfort.

Now doesn't that just melt your heart?
It certainly made my day.

I need to make more cuddle quilts -- and Project Linus quilts ----
and finish Erin's graduation quilt.

    1. Yes, it certainly made my day! My own kids are awful about writing thank you notes--and this young mommy clearly has her hands full.

How beautiful--the quilt, the baby, the note!
Once I helped a Girl Scout troop dye squares of fabric that were to be made into a quilt for Project Linus.
