Saturday Slim Down Report
It's Day 75 of the 90-Day Nature's Sunshine Slim-Down Challenge. Over the past week I lost 1.2 pounds for a total loss of 28.6 pounds -- almost two bowling balls.
In the final 15 days, I hope to step up my exercise efforts and drink more green juice (gag!!) with the hope of losing 30 pounds or more at the end of the 90-day challenge.
My cousin Jeannie, who has been with Nature's Sunshine for many years, has been my patient coach through this ordeal. She keeps asking if I have adjusted to a "new normal." Uhh--sorry, but NO! I like my walks, but there are days when I REALLY crave a cheeseburger, or nachos, or ice cream. I hate green juice, and I'm not convinced the juice without fiber is the way to go long-term. And the vitamin A in all those dark green veggies I am juicing is fat soluble---so the body can't utilize most of those nutrients unless there is some fat in the diet.
I do intend to stay on a diet after the 90 days. I will occasionally drink green juice, and I will use Nature's Sunshine powdered high protein meal replacements as an on-the-go meal to keep me from grabbing fast food. I will definitely use the Stixated fruit-flavored drink powder as an appetite suppressant between meals. I will stay off the Diet Coke, and avoid fast food and processed carbohydrates and strictly limit sugar intake. I'll eat high protein Greek yogurt instead of the cheaper sweetened kind. But I will allow myself to eat fish and salads and fruit as "real food" sources of protein and vitamins along with an occasional slice of whole grain bread or pasta...but not for another 15 days!

You're doing so great on this challenge!
ReplyDeleteBut I agree...you have to find what works and drinking green stuff all the time would never work for me. It's all about eating sensible and in moderation and adding in exercise.
This challenge has given you an awesome jump start on your weight loss!
Thanks, Edi!
ReplyDeleteWay to go LeAnn! You have kept at it longer than I could have. I agree with Edi that you have to find what works best for you. One diet does not fit all.
ReplyDeleteKeep up the good work!
Thanks for the encouragement, Annette!

Congratulations LeAnn! That's a wonderful loss! You're very inspiring! I also agree that you have to find something that works for you. My dietitian would agree with your more sensible choices than green juice all the time. It should be more of a lifestyle than a 'diet' and it sounds like you're certainly on your way to a healthy lifestyle!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the encouragement! Old habits are hard to break, but I am committed to trying to live a healthier lifestyle.
DeleteMmmm - Greek yogurt! Cottage cheese is packed with protein, too. It sounds strange, but after so long of not eating a cheeseburger, for example, you might actually not be too satisfied with you have one! I totally couldn't live on juice, though. No way. Congrats on all your lost weight! That is amazing.
ReplyDeleteYou deserve congratulations and respect for sticking with this for so long. Your after diet plan makes a lot of sense. much luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the encouragement!
DeleteYou are doing so good on this plan! Keep up the good work. You will take some of these great things that you have learned and create a healthy lifestyle that you can live with.
