Score!

Each year, one of our local quilt shops, the Cosmic Cow, hosts a Quilters' Rummage Sale on the first Sunday in March. (The Quilted Kitty, where I worked part-time for a very short time last Fall, has closed its brick and mortar store, but is open online.)

I've never been able to attend the annual event, because in prior years I worked every Sunday during tax season.  This year, however, I only work every other Sunday (except during "peak"), and I had last Sunday off!

The event is also a fundraiser for The Center for People in Need, a local charity which I am happy to support.  Attendees were asked to donate $1.00 or a canned food item, and many vendors agreed to donate all or a percentage of their proceeds to TCPN.

I couldn't resist the $1.25 fat quarters shown above. My next score -- two decorator fabric samples at 50 cents each! This interesting harlequin swatch is 6" x 42" and it is 100% silk.  I can see this remnant being transformed into a few wonderful zipper pouches or perhaps a Fall clutch or two.

The second decorator swatch is a dark blue rayon and cotton blend.  I actually like the reverse side better than the outer damask. The design is more subtle.  This will also become a zipper pouch, I think.

Of course, I couldn't resist some pretty purple fabric for jewelry pouches, makeup bags, and perhaps a walker bag.

I found a spool of my favorite thread in purple at 60% off, some nice light small-scale florals for doll quilts at $1.00 per yard! (I'll be making doll quilts with some of Jerry's scrappy squares.)   And even though I am SO tired of snow and cold, this snowflake print will become Santa Sacks for next year's Lincoln Quilters Guild project -- and maybe a holiday gift pouch or two.

My biggest score was this cloud fabric -- enough for a large quilt back and several twined rug strips.  It is high quality cotton at under $3.00 per yard.

Fabric AND the Oscars -- and only 1.5" of snow!  It was a pretty good Sunday.

    1. Yes, it was sad to see them close. Three other quilt shops in more rural towns also closed this Winter.

  2. I really like the fabric on top in that first photo! Very pretty. My favorite bead shop in SC is considering going just online, too.

    1. The overhead for a brick and mortar store is SO high! The fabric you like is one of my favorites, too.

  6. I'd say you definitely scored on this one! So glad you were able spend your Sunday in such a fun way. I'm a a fan of fat quarters myself. Whenever they are on sale at JoAnn's, I stock up. And for the record, I'm sick of snow too. But I do think they look nice on fabric. Better there than on my lawn and streets.
